Unleashing the Power of AI-Powered ERP for E-Commerce Businesses
Imagine you're running an e-commerce business.
You've got products to sell, inventory to manage, and margins to maintain. But instead of focusing on growth and strategy, you're drowning in spreadsheets, manually entering data, and praying that your COGS calculations are somewhat accurate.
How AI-Powered ERP Solves E-Commerce Challenges
THE SOLUTION
Enter Unit IQ, the AI-powered ERP for e-commerce, that's about to make your finance team pop champagne.
The company is building the modern ERP for inventory operations and finance, targeting businesses selling physical goods.

Automating COGS Calculations with Machine Learning
Unit IQ's first module, an AI-powered costing tool, is already in beta. Upload your invoices, connect your product catalog, and watch as it calculates your fully landed COGS faster than you can say "Excel is for keyboard monkeys"
To build on the momentum, they're pulling a Dune and adding two more modules, a multichannel contribution margin analysis tool and a PO management system that'll give your operations team enough free time to actually watch Dune.
THE NUMBERS
Traction:
Beta version of AI-powered costing tool available
Early customers including Robin Golf, Dragon Hemp, and Loftie
Market Size:
TAM: $50 billion
SAM: $10 billion
SOM: $500 million
Competition:
Cogsy, Fuse, Unioncrate
Anaplan, Mosaic, Planful
SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365
Team:
Peter Marler, CEO: ex-NBCUniversal Director of Strategic Development
Zach Yellin-Flaherty, CTO: ex-Stripe and Index SWE (acquired by Stripe), BS and MS in CS (that’s a lot of S’s) degrees from Stanford
Risks:
AI accuracy: The core value proposition relies on AI accurately interpreting diverse invoice formats and product data. Any significant errors could erode trust quickly
Data security concerns: Handling sensitive financial data requires robust security measures. Any breaches could be catastrophic for reputation and growth
Incumbent inertia: Many businesses are deeply entrenched in their current systems, even if inefficient. Overcoming the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality could be challenging

The Future of Inventory Management: AI-Driven Insights
What I like:
AI for less sexy industries: Leveraging AI to automate tedious tasks addresses a real pain point for SMBs lacking resources for dedicated finance teams
Modular approach: Starting with a focused costing tool allows for rapid iteration and proof of concept before expanding
TAM expansion potential: While starting with e-commerce and physical goods (already massive sectors), the core technology could be adapted to other industries
Streamlining Operations with Predictive Analytics
Opportunities:
Predictive analytics: As an AI-powered ERP for e-commerce, Unit IQ has the potential to expand into predictive analytics, expanding AI capabilities to forecast demand, suggest optimal inventory levels, and predict cash flow issues
Marketplace integrations: Partner directly with e-commerce platforms like Shopify or Amazon to offer seamless onboarding for their merchants
White-label offering: Partner with accounting firms or consultancies to offer Unit IQ's tools under their brand, expanding reach and credibility
With its innovative AI-powered ERP for e-commerce, Unit IQ is poised to bring the power of AI to the oft-neglected world of SMB financial operations. If they can deliver on the promise of accurate, instant insights, they might just make spreadsheets as obsolete as the abacus.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go hug my laptop and whisper sweet nothings to the AI that's about to take over my job. Who knew robots could be so... sexy?

The Supreme Court voted to overturn Chevron v. Natural Resources Defense Council, a ruling which had established the framework for modern framework for federal regulation
As you may be aware, whenever Congress makes a law, the wording is painfully ambiguous and vague, allowing for interpretation from each of the important actors in each regulated industry, the Chevron case giving agencies like the SEC, EPA, and FCC the agency to make these judgement calls, too
Now, these agencies aren’t afforded the benefit of independent interpretation, making their “rulings” meaningless
I’m split on this…
On one hand, the last thing we need are industries like the airline industry becoming even more lax than they already are… @Boeing
On the other hand, agencies like the SEC have paraded around under a shroud of “consumer safety” that has enabled them to fuck over retail investors to help out the big boys on Wall Street, so anything to neuter Gary Gensler is a win in my book
Reddit is fighting bots from scraping its platform
This isn’t shocking news considering they sold the rights to scraping the site and its content to Google in a licensing agreement
Plus, now that Reddit finally has a business model that pays, they want to protect their golden egg at all costs
More companies are likely to follow this approach to prevent scrapers, whether for AI training purposes or for other use cases
However, scrapers are also going to become much, much more sophisticated, especially now that LLMs have vision capabilities
Ideogram released Upscale, an AI-powered tool which literally improves photos down to the single pixel by altering lighting, color, etc
Holy shit…
